I grew up extremely disciplined and ambitious. By my mid-20s, I was an executive with multiple degrees. What a humbling experience. I stayed true to my values, worked 80-hour weeks and slept-ate poorly. I can’t say I was happy, but I was driven.
On a February morning years ago, I couldn’t get out of bed. Unemployed because my body could no longer keep up with the fast pace and inner race. What a lesson to learn… a lesson that took another handful of years to apply! I thought I was challenged by my physical state and my expectations, but really the work I needed to do was about my beliefs. I found myself asking more "why" and paving my own "how".
I found detoxing for vitality and fasting as ways of bringing my mind-body-spirit together. The journey that unfolded during those years helped me evolve as a human and elevate my relationship with my body, which inevitably meant a more mindful relationship with food. It was so empowering that I studied and became a certified detoxification for vitality specialist.
It didn’t just help me rebuild myself, it helped me question and redefine what I eat and how I eat. It wasn't about depending on food to make me happy, it was about being happy knowing my good food was good for me. It changed my entire mindset to search for answers before (quick) solutions. I became very intentional.
I founded Popcorn Celebration Inc. because during my elimination diet, I snacked on fruits, nuts and popcorn. Popcorn felt like a celebration! I wanted to share that feel good feeling with the world and also the intention of choosing good food that is good for you. I hoped it might help everyone smile more, connect more, share more and celebrate more!
The challenge became to source the best ingredients. The fluffiest kernels. The tastiest salt. The creamiest oil. All natural ingredients. Made in non-toxic machines. A popcorn that would be a tribute to this new belief that became a foundation, an ultimate guiding principle: everything we put in our body must be whole, nutritious and delicious. It took two years to get the yummy taste without any chemicals, preservatives or tummy aches. I hope you love it!
And then, I decided to coat my popcorn with chocolate. I had to find the purest chocolate, fair trade. And then, I decided to coat my popcorn with caramel. I had to find the most naturally flavourful caramel recipe, homemade.
Because I sourced all these natural ingredients and contacted each farmer and producer, I didn't fear eating snacks that were not fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. I decided I could make a nutritious cookie, but only if I could find a hand-milled organic wholegrain that was easily digestible. And I found it!
Each new product brought discovery and creativity. And celebration! All along, the best part has been sharing them. It brings so much satisfaction to know the passion and commitment can be tasted. It brings so much joy knowing our customers really do smile, connect, share and celebrate when they eat them.
